A Message to Our Friends: COVID-19

Dear Ryman Arts Friends,

We are all taking steps to deal with the impact of the COVID -19 virus. To that end, I am writing to let you know that Ryman Arts has cancelled the remainder of our classes for this spring semester. Our classes had their final sessions this past weekend at both our California State University Fullerton (CSUF) and Otis College of Art & Design sites. With student health as our highest priority, the decision was based on public health directives from CSUF and Otis College.

We are glad that our students were able to complete much of the semester before this disruption and that we could hold a final session to wrap up. We sent our student artists home with art materials and encouragement to keep drawing every day!

Looking forward, as conditions allow, we will explore other opportunities to provide art learning experiences for our students. We expect to resume regular classes for our fall semester and will send updates when we have confirmed information.

We all know this is a challenging situation for the entire community as well as our young artists and their families. Additional details can be found on our FAQs page. We will keep you posted if there are other changes we need to make regarding our work.

Once we return to our full services, we will be talking more to you about additional ways to get involved in our work going forward. We remain committed to our mission to transform lives by creating access and opportunity for a diverse community of young artists through rigorous education in fundamental art skills and mentoring.

Thank YOU for your belief in our young artists, and for your ongoing support.

Let’s help each other move through this period with kindness – and if you can, take time to draw,

Diane Brigham
